We have been traveling in amazing Indonesia for many years and now we have prepared a very interesting expedition for you.

Indonesia is an island nation consisting of more than 18,307 large and small islands scattered in the waters of the Pacific and Indian oceans. More than 9,000 islands are unnamed, and only about 1,000 are inhabited. The area of some islands does not exceed one hectare. For those who do not know, the largest island in the world is Greenland. Moreover, the second and third largest are New Guinea (half belongs to Indonesia) and Borneo, which is Kalimantan (a large part of which is also Indonesian). The most densely populated island in the world also belongs to Indonesia - it is Java. 145 million people live here.

The so-called Pacific Ring of Fire runs through the territory of Indonesia. Accordingly, Indonesia is a world leader in many aspects of volcanic activity statistics. As of 2012, there are 127 active volcanoes in Indonesia. Earthquakes of 4-5 points are a common phenomenon.

Our expedition will consist of four very interesting blocks that are completely different from each other and allow you to see the diversity of Indonesia. We will start our journey in Bali, where we will get to know the culture and peculiarities of one of the most amazing islands in the world.

Then our way goes to the Komodo National Park, where we will reach on small converted fishing boats and where we will spend three exciting days. We will get to know the famous and unique Komodo dragons; we will bathe, swim and sunbathe a lot.

Then we will head to the island of Java, where we will visit two unique volcanoes in Bromo and Ijen National Parks that fascinate even the most avid hiker!

The temple complex was built in 962 AD. In honor of the god Vishnu. On its territory, there is a well-known and legendary spring, which, according to Hindu beliefs, heals diseases and cleanses not only the body, but also the soul.

Day 6
17
.05.2024

After early breakfast, we get into minibuses and go to meet the morning at the beautiful Lempuyang Temple.

After walking, we move to the water palace of Tirta Ganga. The name of the palace consists of two words: Tirta - which can be translated as "sacred water" - and Gangga, which means the name of the sacred river Ganges in India. But the water palace has nothing common with India. The fact is that the Ganges is closely connected with the Hindu religion. According to legend, this river used to flow in heaven, but then was lowered to earth with the help of the god Shiva. So the name of the palace can be translated as "the sacred waters of the Ganges".

The Water Palace is an architectural ensemble with elements of Balinese and Chinese design. Tirtagangga looks like a bizarre labyrinth of ponds, fountains, bridges and alleys with dozens of statues of animals and demons, traditional for the local culture. The whole composition of the palace is framed in a lush green garden.

Day 7
18
.05.2024

Breakfast. At 9-10 in the morning, we check in at the hotel, grab a snack for lunch on the way, board small buses for 8 people and leave for the ferry to cross to the island of Java.

Part of the route passes through the mountains, where the temperature regime is different from the plain, so it is necessary to have a warm fleece or sweater with you. Arrival at the Ijen volcano in the national park of the same name around 16:00 - 17:00. Supper.

Accommodation in a hotel with all the conditions to get a good night's sleep. This night we will not sleep, but will sacrifice sleep to see a very interesting phenomenon, when the burning sulfur of the Ijen volcano is illuminated by a mysterious blue glow.

14.jpg

The Ijen volcano is the source of sulfur, which is widely used in industry, but you will not find a mining factory or any machinery here: people work with their bare hands, as they did many years ago.

15.jpg

This is hard, dangerous work. Men in 60-70 kg baskets will lift sulfur from the crater and lower it to the reception point. The price of a kilogram reaches 1,000 rupees, that is, in one move they earn 4,5 dollars. In the crater, there is a poisonous lake with acid, to which you can descend, if the wind allows. Descent into the crater must be carried out with respirators; the smoke is very poisonous and unbearable.

16.jpg

Day 8
19
.05.2024

Around 9 in the morning, we say goodbye to the deadly beauty of the Ijen volcano and leave for the Bromo volcano.

(Food: breakfast included)

(харчування: сніданок включений)

Day 9
20
.05.2024

We wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning, take all our warm things and go to film the sunrise over the active Bromo volcano. Dozens of photographers have been crowding the observation decks since late at night, waiting for the dawn, so lovers of beautiful photos should arrive in advance.

The dawn over Bromo is considered one of the most beautiful that can be seen on our planet. After sunrise, transfer to the crater of the volcano and a small trekking ascent to the caldera.

Світанок над Бромо вважається одним із найпрекрасніших, які можна лише побачити на нашій Планеті.

Return to the hotel by 9:00. Breakfast. Transfer to Surabaya airport, flight to the island of Kalimantan (Borneo).

After arriving on the island of Borneo, we meet with the local team of guides. Transfer to the port. Accommodation on our boats (almost exact copies of those we used during the Komodo expedition) 8 people per ship + captain, sailors and cook.

Crossing the river to the national park, where many encounters with amazing orangutans and other animals await in the coming days.

21.jpg

By the evening, we arrive at the National Park and go for a walk through the jungle. We will look for the famous luminescent mushrooms in the dark.

22.jpg

After returning to our boats, we go to a quiet and cozy place on the river for the night. We have dinner. We go to sleep. Everyone will receive a mattress, pillow, sheet, mosquito net for a comfortable sleep right on the deck of the ship.

(Meals: breakfast, dinner included)

Day 10
21
.05.2024

We wake up to the surrounding sounds of the jungle. The captain and the team take the boats to the river, and we go to the planned point, where we will try to be the first guests to meet the orangutans, who often go to the river in the morning.

The crossing takes about 2 hours. While the ship is leaving, we have breakfast, get ourselves in order.

Having reached the place we need, the guides first disembark; settle the formalities related to visiting protected places.

We meet the first aborigines, who like to come in the morning and look at travelers.

24.jpg

Then we move deep into the park, where we can observe the life of orangutans in all their diversity.

25.jpg

Orangutans are great apes that live in the tropical forests of Indonesia and Malaysia. They are now found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra, but in the Pleistocene, they lived throughout Southeast Asia and southern China. Orangutans are the largest tree monkeys. The growth of adult males can reach 1.5 m, body weight - 50-90 and even 100 kg. Females are much smaller: about 1 m tall with a weight of 30-50 kg.

27.jpg

The Kalimantan (Borneo) orangutan is larger than the Sumatran orangutan. The physique of orangutans is massive, with highly developed muscles. The hind limbs are short, the front limbs, on the contrary, are very long, reaching the bones. The hair cover is sparse, reddish-brown, with long hair on the shoulders.

The big toes can turn and oppose the rest of the toes, which is thought to be an adaptation for climbing trees. The head is large, with a wide face, a high forehead and a prominent muzzle. The sagittal and occipital crests are developed, there are no occipital ridges. Adult males have characteristic growths of fat and connective tissue on their cheeks, and have mustaches and beards.

28.jpg

We go back to our boat with many first-class photos. As we sail to our next destination today, we rest and then have lunch.

New landing, new meetings with orangutans and other monkeys that live in these regions.

29.jpg

For example, we will also have the opportunity to see monkeys, gibbons and the famous carrier monkeys.

30.jpg
31.jpg

We return to the boats and set off again. We move to a new place, where we spend the night on the river.

Rest. We have dinner on our boats.

(Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner included)
